Windows 7 - OS - Missing Dial-in tab in Active Directory Users and Computers

Postby lmmtux » Fri Nov 15, 2013 1:50 pm

With a default Windows 7 installation and installing the Microsoft RSAT (Remote System Administration Tools), the Dial-in tab is missing. The tab can be restored by following these steps.

Assuming that you have a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server, and a Windows 7 64-bit PC running the Active Directory Users and Computers console:

  1. Copy the list of files below from the Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server to the same paths on the Windows 7 64-bit PC:
    • C:\Windows\system32\mprsnap.dll
    • C:\Windows\system32\rasuser.dll
    • C:\Windows\system32\rtrfiltr.dll
    • C:\Windows\system32\en-us\mprsnap.dll.mui
    • C:\Windows\system32\en-us\rasuser.dll.mui
    • C:\Windows\system32\en-us\rtrfiltr.dll.mui
  2. Open a command window as an administrator:
    • Click Windows start icon
    • Type in "cmd" in the search line
    • Right-click on the "cmd.exe" listing above and select "Run As Administrator"
  3. In the command window that opens, run the following command:
    Code: Select all
    regsvr32.exe C:\Windows\system32\rasuser.dll
  4. Close and re-open the Active Directory Users and Computers console on the Windows 7 64-bit PC and the dial-in tab should now show up.
