Any - Outlook 2000 SP3+ - Unblock attachments by extension

Postby lmmtux » Wed Aug 15, 2012 9:07 am

By default, Outlook blocks many attachment types for security reasons. But sometimes, we want to allow certain attachment types.

Note: This fix only applies to Outlook 2000 SP3 and higher.

Workaround:

  1. Open the Registry Editor as the user you wish to change this setting for (regedit.exe)
  2. Navigate to the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security
  3. Change 10.0 to reflect the version of Outlook you are using:
    • Outlook 2000 SP3 : 9.0
    • Outlook 2002 : 10.0
    • Outlook 2003: 11.0
    • Outlook 2007: 12.0
    • Outlook 2010: 13.0
  4. Create a String value called "Level1Remove"
  5. Enter in the list of extensions you want Outlook to allow separated by semi-colons. For example:
    Code: Select all
    .mdb;.url

This example will allow Microsoft Access and Internet Shortcuts.
